Celebrity Blog Update–Two Beautiful Women, Two Ugly Break Ups

Here’s an update on a couple of the celebrities I have been blogged on in the past few weeks. Both are women I consider beyond stunning and both have been wronged by their significant others.

The first is supermodel Christie Brinkley. By now I’m sure you know that her estranged husband, architect Peter Cook has publicly admitted that he had an ongoing affair with his teenage office assistant while the couple was married. When word got out that Cook not only bedded the teen, but also wooed her with extravagant gifts and money, Brinkley and her children fled their Hampton’s estate and holed with her parents in California.

Then, just a few days ago the New York Daily News reported that Brinkley had returned to the East Coast to meet with Cook… and his parents. Yes, his parents. Cook, who publicly apologized for his infidelity and made headlines begging for his wife’s forgiveness, arrived at the couple’s home with his parents and according to the paper met with Brinkley for 15 minutes before they all left the estate in separate vehicles.

No word on what transpired behind closed doors, but judging from the amount of time they spent together I can’t imagine that it was as promising a meeting as Cook would have liked. We’ll see.

The second beauty whose love life has been the topic of several of my blogs is the talented Sheryl Crow or ex-fiancée of seven-time Tour de France Champ and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong. Like Brinkley and Cook, the pair seemed to be made for each other. She is a gifted musician and avid athlete and he is a music lover and when it comes to cycling, often defies what is humanly possible. They were cute. They were in love. And they were getting married. Then they broke up… two weeks before Crow was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was heartbroken for her.

But, Crow has pulled through her illness and as part of her healing process has reportedly started dating again.

In an interview with CNN’s Larry King, Crow says she has found someone she likes, admitting, “It is good news, you know.”

PEOPLE Magazine is reporting that while it took her a while to get over her February break up with Armstrong she is definitely in a new relationship. The magazine says Crow is seeing an L.A.-based film director.

“They’ve been dating for a few months now,” PEOPLE’s unnamed source says. “But it’s not serious. They are taking it very slowly.” As for how the couple met, “It was a setup by her friend Courteney Cox,” says the source.

Crow went on to tell Larry King that she still believes in marriage and would love to one day have children. And, while both Crow and Armstrong maintain that their split was done in the couple’s “best interest,” this new interview with King reveals that perhaps Armstrong was not as classy as first thought when it came to splitting with Crow.
