I’m sure you are familiar with the phrase: “To Whom Much is Given, Much is Expected.” Apparently, either some of Hollywood’s biggest names are not as familiar with the saying or they simply choose to ignore it. Case in point, online forums are buzzing with the low down on the latest list of celebrity cheapskates. Topping the list… two names that shocked me: Katie Holmes and new BFF Victoria Beckham.
It appears that Mrs. Moneybanks, pardon me, Mrs. Tom “Moneybanks” Cruise, is only generous to people she works with… forget about the people who simply work for a living. According to news reports, after Holmes and Beckham dined at the Mondrian Hotel’s exclusive Asia de Cuba restaurant last week they left something to be desired—a bad taste in the mouth of their server whom they allegedly stiffed.
A report in the Baltimore Sun claims the two hot mamas paid the bill, then left without leaving a tip. And when the indignant waitress tried to run after the pair, she was pushed away by Beckham’s security guard. Perhaps, the two Hollywood hotties simply got caught up in girl talk (like Tyra Banks recent tipping episode) or, perhaps, skinny chicks with hefty wallets just don’t care about supporting L.A.’s struggling actresses/models who are trying to make a living serving others?
If you think that’s bad wait until you hear what a former Mouseketeer left a valet employed at one of L.A.’s ritziest eateries. You’d think that Britney Spears would know by now that her every move is documented… (Earth to panty-less partying, head shaving, chicken grease wiping mother of two…) especially ones that take place in public. Take for instance this latest incident where the meltdown mama was picking up her car at an exclusive L.A. restaurant. According to tabloid reports, the walking disaster known as the former Mrs. Federline dumped a pile of coins on the sidewalk while reaching for her ticket. When the valet pulled up with her car, she pointed at the change and said “there’s your tip” adding “I’m sure there’s a lot of money over there but I don’t have time to pick it up.” According to witnesses, the valet scraped up less than $5 in coins off the pavement.
