Celebrity Fashion Trends—Are These Items In Your Closet?

Celebrities and their wardrobes—it’s an ongoing topic of conversation for entertainment news show hosts and fills endless pages in entertainment magazines. But, how many of us really follow star fashion trends? You do? Then you are exactly the person that will appreciate this blog. The following fashion items have been making headlines—mainly because a myriad of famous names have been photographed wearing them.

POLKA-DOT DRESSES

Not exactly the first item of clothing I would pull from a dress rack, but some of Hollywood’s most photographed hotties, including Carmen Electra, Eva Longoria and Dita Von Teese have been pictured at charity events wearing dotty (but sweet) ’50s-inspired black-and-white frocks. The dots on their dresses are very discreet (think pin-point dots), so it’s not like they are trying to make saucer size circles look trendy.

LAYERED CHAIN NECKLACES

This is a trend that I love. Recently, actresses Mena Suvari, Naomi Watts and Mary-Kate Olsen have been photographed mixing layers of heavy-link necklaces with conservative pearl necklaces. Personally, I would choose one or the other, but I like the look of the layered chain necklaces, as it seems to compliment a variety of outfits. What’s more, the look is not only reserved for the young-hip-20-something fashionista. I recently saw Katie Couric, Jaclyn Smith, and Oprah donning the look.

ROSETTES

Everything – or at least necklines – is coming up roses for Kate Beckinsale, Sienna Miller and Diane Kruger. Each of them has been photographed sporting fabric rosettes around their—shall we say—chest area. I’m not sure if this look is reserved for the small-chested or just the opposite, but I will say wearing a plain dress whose only decorative feature is a line of roses sewn on the bust line is going to draw stares.

LEOPARD-PRINT DRESSES

Kylie Minogue and Nicky Hilton (among others) have been heeding the call of the wild in feline-inspired frocks. (I confess I did own a pair of leopard print flats–in the 7th grade.) If you are looking to make a statement (one that screams the opposite of conservative) this may be the dress for you.
