Celebrity Good News/Bad News: Hollywood Hunk Hurts and Ellen Cheers

Matthew McConaughey might want to lay off the booze the next time he is traveling abroad.

According to news reports, the handsome actor took a hit during a recent surfing trip to Nicaragua. Thieves reportedly made off with McConaughey’s cell phone and $2,000 in cash… while the actor was passed out.

Star magazine reports that the movie star was so intoxicated after a night of partying that he had to be carried back to his hotel in San Juan Del Sur. This, after he reportedly stood on tables and belligerently asked patrons to help him find his missing flip-flops.

The magazine says McConaughey’s “pals” took him back to his hotel room and put him to bed, but for whatever reason they left his door wide open when they left to go home, and that’s when the thieves struck, according to sources.

In the end the actor decided against reporting the robbery to the local authorities.

“I guess he just considered it a lesson learned,” noted one of McConaughey’s friends.

That’s the bad news… the good news in the world of entertainment is that talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres and her actress girlfriend Portia de Rossi have decided on a place to get married.

According to the New York Post, the couple plans to tie the knot later this year in a lavish ceremony in Palm Springs, California.

The paper quotes sources as saying that the comedian and her gal pal will take over the Riviera Resort and Spa in Palm Springs sometime in October. Currently, the resort is undergoing $70 million in renovations, which will be complete by the fall.

Hotel insiders say DeGeneres wants to get hitched in a private ceremony in the tropical gardens, by the pool and host the reception in the grand ballroom.

The superstar couple will reportedly sign a contract with the resort once security for the event is finalized.
