Celebrity Holiday Weekend Weddings

Labor Day weekend was a popular pick for celebrities looking to tie the knot on the first day of the month.

Among the stars exchanging vows yesterday was “Grey’s Anatomy’s” Kate Walsh who married movie executive Alex Young on Saturday.

The 39-year-old bride made no secret that she was “more than ready” to walk down the aisle. After all, she met her husband (a production co-president at 20th Century Fox) in February and by May they were engaged. Then, less than four months later they got hitched.

According to In Style, Walsh wore a custom-made Monique Lhuillier wedding gown (custom-made in 3 months… not bad) as she walked down the aisle of the Ojai Presbyterian Church in the town of Ojai north of Los Angeles. Prior to the vow exchange a gospel choir reportedly sang, “Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts.

No surprise the church’s pews were filled with Walsh’s “Grey’s” costars, including Katherine Heigl, Chandra Wilson, Sara Ramirez and Justin Chambers, as well as the show’s creator Shonda Rhimes.

After the church ceremony guests were treated to lavish reception at the Ojai Valley Inn, a Spanish-style estate that was reportedly flooded with candlelight. No word on where the newlyweds will honeymoon. Walsh is now starring in a “Grey’s” spin-off on ABC called “Private Practice,” so the couple may have to wait to take an extended psot-wedding trip.

Half way around the world another celebrity couple took the plunge into wedded bliss.

Donald Trump wannabe Bill Rancic married E! News anchor Giuliana DePandi on Saturday on the Italian island of Capri. The “Apprentice” winner and his new wife got married abroad as a tribute to DePandi’s Italian roots.

The Donald couldn’t make the trip to witness the wedding himself, but 190 other guests did and were treated to a massive wedding reception in Capri’s center piazza, where dozens of Neapolitan dancers sang and shimmied alongside the guests as they walked in a group (led by Rancic and DePandi) to the reception at a luxury hotel.

The post-wedding party included a menu of local Southern Italian fare – prosciutto and pasta – followed by a vanilla and cream wedding cake decorated with red rose petals flown in from Holland. A white wedding cake… good choice considering DePandi was wearing a custom–designed white, strapless and beaded Monique Lhuillier dress and veil. (Don’t want to mess the dress with streaks of chocolate.) Rancic, meanwhile, saved money by wearing a white tie and black tuxedo custom-tailored by the bride’s father, who owns a high-end men’s clothing store in Maryland.

The couple had a traditional Catholic ceremony delivered in both Italian and English, by Rancic’s family priest who flew in from Chicago. The church was reportedly strewn with hundreds of flowers and dozens of white candles.

The lavish affair won’t be topped off with a long honeymoon since the couple has to get back to California next week. DePandi is covering the Emmy’s on September 16th and Rancic has a new show on iVillage that starts the day after.
