Celebrity Inspired Valentine’s Gifts—-How To Get Your Hands On A $10,000 Sharpie

Still looking for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for your special someone? If your sweetheart is on a diet (so much for that 5-pound box of chocolates) or is allergic to flowers (nix the cactus idea), then consider consulting a celebrity. The following items stray from the traditional “Love Day” gift ideas. They are unique trinkets and the money from their sales go to help various celebrity-backed charities. Talk about the gift that keeps giving…

Celebrity Edition Sharpie

What has 66 Hearts on Fire diamonds, 1,300 Swarovski crystals, and writes upside down? Why a celebrity edition Sharpie, of course. The blinged out pen is currently being auctioned off on eBay with an opening bid of $3,500! (Hey, I never said shopping like a celebrity was going to be easy on your wallet.) Don’t flinch—$3,500 is a bargain considering the marker is valued at $10,000.

The pen is part of Sharpie’s Autograph for Action campaign, which is gathering one million autographs to exchange for one million dollars. The money will be distributed to various charities, community organizations and educational programs throughout the nation. If you don’t think the pen will be enough to satisfy your sweetheart, keep in mind that the highest bidder will also land a leather chair autographed by all the Super Bowl players—a piece valued at more than $12,000.

“Believe” Bracelets

Don’t have $10,000 to spare… then consider jewelry that has a little less bling, but a lot of heart. The “Believe” bracelet features a series of silver smiley faces (silver medallions embossed with smiley faces linked together to form a bracelet). If the happy faces don’t make your Valentine smile perhaps he or she will grin knowing that the profits from the bracelet go to help sick children. All proceeds from the “Believe” bracelets benefit Charley’s Fund, a non-profit organization, which raises money to help find a treatment or cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, an illness with a 100% fatality rate.

Pinky Rings

Did you watch this year’s Golden Globes Award Show? If you did and you caught Hugh Laurie’s acceptance speech, you may have wondered “What is that pink ring on his pinkie?” No, it wasn’t a rubber band (though it looked like one from afar). Rather, it was the new Promise Ring, created by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. It retails for $5 at komen.org with all proceeds going to fund research. It’s fashionable and affordable… and the perfect color for Valentine’s Day.
