Having a tattoo or multiple tattoos is the thing to do today – even for celebrity mothers. I won’t say the trend started with Angelina Jolie, but she certainly has to be considered a forerunner. Jolie already had several tattoos when she adopted her first child Maddox. But, after adopting Maddox, she got a tattoo of a Buddhist Pali incantation written in Khmer script on her left shoulder blade. This tattoo is supposed to protect Jolie and Maddox from bad luck.

Jolie also has the longitudes and latitudes of the birth location of her children tattooed on her upper arm. Maddox was born in Cambodia, Zahara was born in Ethiopia, Shiloh (her first biological child) was born in Namibia, Pax was born in Vietnam, and twins Knox and Vivienne were born in France. Jolie also had Oklahoma coordinates added for the birthplace of Brad Pitt.
Another tattooed celebrity mom is Jessica Alba. Although she doesn’t have as many as Jolie, Alba has a tattoo of a padma, which is the Sanskrit symbol for the lotus flower, on her inner wrist. Alba, mom to daughters Honor Marie and Haven Garner, also has a bow tattoo on her lower back.
Hubby David Beckham isn’t the only one in their family with tattoos – wife Victoria has several as well. In fact, the couple, parents of Brooklyn Joseph, Romeo James, Cruz David, and Harper Seven, even has matching tattoos. They got back tattoos quoting Song of Solomon 6:3 (“I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine”) in Hebrew to mark their sixth anniversary.
Supermodel Heidi Klum has a tattoo she may consider having removed – or at least altered. Klum has an abstract tattoo on her right forearm that contains the name of her soon-to-be ex husband Seal and their four children’s initials. Klum got the tattoo for the couple’s fourth renewal of vows.
Another supermodel, Gisele Bundchen, has a small tattoo of a star on her wrist. The star isn’t for her son with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, but for her grandmother.
