Celebrity News Week in Review for November 3, 2006

The celebrity news you may have missed!

10. Christopher Reeve’s Children Carry on His Foundation

Christopher Reeve’s children, Alexandra, Matthew, and Will, are going to serve on the board of his Paralysis Foundation. What an incredible family this is!

9. Wesley Snipes Reaches a Settlement with the IRS

As I reported earlier, Wesley Snipes was in trouble with the IRS over fraudulent tax returns. The star was in Namibia on a film location, but agreed to a payment plan, which will keep him from serving any jail time.

8. Eddie Izzard Quits “24”

I was excited that one of my favorite comedians, Eddie Izzard, was joining the cast of “24.” However, after only one day of filming, he quit and was replaced by David Hunt. Eddie is however, working on his own show “The Riches” which will appear on FX next fall.

7. The Anna Nicole Smith Saga Continues

Poor Anna Nicole. First she suffered through her son’s death, then the “fake” marriage to lawyer Howard K. Stern, and now pneumonia and potential homelessness. Anna was hospitalized for pneumonia earlier this week and G. Ben Thompson says the home she is staying at in the Bahamas is his and he wants her out. Can you say “drama?”

6. Oprah Gives Away Money

This past week, Oprah gave her audience members $1,000 debit cards to donate to their favorite charity. Does that include themselves?

5. Bill Maher, Never Politically Correct

Apparently, Bill Maher appeared at several Halloween costumes dressed as Steve Irwin, including a bloody stingray barb attached to a khaki shirt. Has class completely gone out the window?

4. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe Split

Another young Hollywood marriage has sadly ended. I wonder if the constant reporting by the press that the marriage “was on the rocks” helped put them over the edge?

3. Sandra Bullock and Queen Latifah Named Women of the Year
Glamour Magazine named Sandra and Queen Latifah Women of the Year last Monday. Sandra was honored for donating millions following the 9/11 and Tsunami tragedies. Queen Latifah received the Role Model of the Year award.

2. Michael J. Fox Responds to Rush

After Rush Limbaugh tore into Michael J. Fox for his political ad, Michael responded by saying he was too medicated. That is something I wish Rush was at times.

1. Tom Cruise Rebounds

Don’t count Tom down and out yet. It has been a rough year, but Tom and execs from MGM Studios are resurrecting United Artists, the studio formed by legends Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, and D.W. Griffith back in 1919.
