The celebrity news you may have missed!
10. Aaron Carter Engaged
I just read that 18-year-old singer Aaron Carter is engaged to 22-year-old Playboy Playmate Kari Ann Peniche, who used to date his brother Nick. Oh, this seems so wrong on so many levels I cannot even begin!
9. Saturday Night Live Drops Three Regulars
No more Parnell, Sanz, or Mitchell. After 32 years, you’d think I would be used to cast changes by now. Read more about it in my SNL blog.
8. Mickey Hargitay Dies
Former husband of Jayne Mansfield, father of Mariska Hargitay, and body builder Mickey Hargitay died this week at the age of 80. Read more about his life and Mariska’s reaction in the Pop Culture blog on his death.
7. Steve Irwin’s Memorial
This week, fans snagged 3,000 tickets in only 15 minutes to the Steve Irwin memorial service at the Australia Zoo. Fans, obviously still grieving his loss, camped outside the locations for days to obtain the much coveted tickets.
6. Still No Clue on Daniel Wayne Smith’s Death
I still cannot get over how tragic this is. Anna Nicole hired Cyril Wecht, a pathologist involved in many high profile cases such as Elvis, JonBenet Ramsey, and Laci Peterson. While he said there is no indication of heart disease, stroke, cancer, or any type of congenital anomaly, he will be conduction a second series of tests. I guess it ultimately doesn’t matter how he died, I just pray that Anna Nicole can get through this, for the sake of her newborn daughter if nothing else.
5. Clooney Fights for Darfur
I tend to dislike when celebrities get involved in politics, but I was glad to see George Clooney speak out for Darfur at the United Nations Security Council this week. If you are not sure what is going on in Darfur, check out this blog.
4. Brad and Angelina Make a Huge Donation
The world’s sexist couple made a $2 million dollar donation to Global Action for Children and Medicins sans Frontieres/Doctors without Borders. Say what you will about them, but these donations were made to very worthy causes and that is never a bad thing in my eyes.
3. Marcia Cross Expecting Twins
Wow, twins at age 44! My hat is off to Marcia and her hubby – I wish them the best. Read more about her pregnancy and other celebs expecting twins in Michele’s blog.
2. Cage’s Production Shut Down
I would imagine there are enough problems on a movie set, but now Nicolas Cage and the crew of his new movie Bangkok Dangerous have something different to deal with – a coup! While filming in Thailand, the cast and crew had to shut down production due to a military coup of the country’s goverment.
1. Patricia Kennedy Dies
Kennedy sister Pat Kennedy Lawford died this week at the age of 82. She was married to actor Peter Lawford in 1954 and spent much of her life doing television, supporting her sibling’s political campaigns and doing charity work. It is so tragic that JFK and Robert Kennedy died at such young ages; it is nice to see someone from the Kennedy clan living a long life.
