Celebrity “REAL” or “RUMOR”—-Are They or Aren’t They?

IS SHE?

This is an update to a previous “Celebrity REAL or RUMOR” I posted a few weeks ago. Back then the Internet was buzzing with the rumor that “Desperate Housewives’” star Nicollette Sheridan was pregnant with fiancé Michael Bolton’s baby.

Several tabloids suggested 44-year-old Sheridan was with child and cited claims that she was turning to her “Desperate Housewives” co-stars, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman, to provide her with advice on pregnancy issues.

Well, chock up those fake conversations to tabloid fodder because Bolton is finally batting down the rumors that he is about to be a daddy again. The singer categorically denied his fiancée is pregnant, insisting the baby rumors are “ridiculous.”

Bolton added that the couple is more focused on planning their wedding than starting a family.

IS HE?

In a previous blog I revealed which late night talk show hosts were paying staffers out of their own pockets as the Writers Guild of America work stoppage entered its fifth week.

Much has been said about the generous offer made by David Letterman whose production company, Worldwide Pants, owns both of CBS'”Late Show with David Letterman” and “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.” The funny man promised to pay staffers on both shows through the end of the year. A few days later Conan O’Brien made headlines when he followed Letterman’s lead and also guaranteed his staffers they would be paid through January. A reluctant Jay Leno made the same offer to his staff just a few days ago.

In the meantime, Jimmy Kimmel, who hosts ABC’s late-night chatfest “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” has been flying under the radar. Turns out it’s no RUMOR that the comedian has been quietly showing his support for striking staff by paying their wages out of his own pocket since they formed the picket lines almost four weeks ago.

Now word has it Kimmel is also helping out his non-striking staff, those worst hit by the strike, like junior production assistants and receptionists, by keeping them on the pay roll. Meanwhile, the show’s network, ABC, is continuing to pay the host’s senior staff.
