Celebrity “Real” or “Rumor”—The Donald and Rosie Reconcile

In previous Celebrity “Real” or “Rumor” posts we’ve uncovered the truth behind singer James Blunt selling his sister of eBay and actor (and sports fanatic) Kevin James naming his new baby after a popular baseball stadium. Today we tackle an even bigger subject: Donald Trump and Rosie O’Donnell’s reported reconciliation.

Alas, as you may have already guessed this one is a RUMOR. However, it’s not for trying on “The Donald’s” part.

In an effort to garner attention for his new show (a celebrity edition of “The Apprentice”) Trump invited his nemesis (and former “View” host) to appear and (if she won) give her winnings to charity.

“I think it would be very good for Rosie. And she would be treated very fairly,” the real estate mogul told reporters yesterday.

Since pigs aren’t flying and hell isn’t frozen over, it was no surprise that O’Donnell declined—with a vengeance.

“It will not happen in this lifetime or beyond,” O’Donnell’s rep told reporters.

Duh, I’m sure that Trump saw that coming a mile a way, yet he tried to court the outspoken talk show host as a potential contestant—-clever!

Even if you aren’t fans of either Trump or O’Donnell you’ll recall their very public sparring matches. The comic and the business mogul both engaged in heated verbal exchanges on air. It started when O’Donnell criticized the businessman when he announced he would not fire Miss USA Tara Conner. Trump retaliated by calling O’Donnell “fat” and “a loser.”

For the celebrity version of “The Apprentice,” contestants will be competing and raising money for charity. In a previous blog I revealed that NBC had canceled “The Apprentice” due to low ratings. But the network hired a new entertainment chief shortly thereafter, and he called on Trump and executive producer Mark Burnett to revive the show.

While O’Donnell will definitely NOT be on the show, NBC announced it is currently inviting other celebrities with “entrepreneurial abilities in the areas of sports, entertainment and fashion” to appear.

As for O’Donnell’s future on TV, her spokesperson confirmed the former talk show host is in talks with NBC about other projects.
