Celebrity Singers—-What’s all the Noise About?

Now that she is a newlywed it appears Mariah Carey wants to settle down even more.

The pop star is reportedly negotiating a deal that would have her following in the footsteps of Celine Dion, Cher and Bette Midler and Sir Elton John by starring in a nightly Las Vegas show.

The job would require the songstress to take up residency in Sin City and would afford her a luxury most singers don’t have–consistency and a bit of normalcy (at least schedule wise).

Star magazine is reporting that Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino recently offered Carey a $100 million three-year deal that would have the pop diva performing nightly and eventually become the “Queen of the Las Vegas strip.”

Carey, who just made her first public stage performance as Mrs. Nick Cannon during a recent appearance in New York has remained mum on the reported deal.

Insiders speculate that if the deal is signed soon Carey will make an announcement during her next public appearance—-a free 35-minute summer concert at the Hollywood & Highland shopping complex on July 31st.

In other music news…

Just when you thought actor Matthew McConaughey has his hands full with his new son, word on the street is that he has a new project in the works.

Reports say the movie star has created his own record company.

According to New York gossip column PageSix, McConaughey is breaking into the music biz and has already signed his first act, a reggae singer, he met a few years ago.

The paper says the actor is now approaching other major music labels for backing and wants to land a distribution deal by the end of the summer.

Sources tell the paper that McConaughey’s first artist is a reggae singer called Mishka, whose new “Above the Bones” and first single “Here Comes Da Train” will be produced by the actor’s record label, though no release date has been set.
