Celebrity Splits: The Curse of the Other Woman

It’s no secret that Shania Twain and her husband, music producer Robert “Mutt” Lange are headed for divorce court, but since the shocking news broke last week enquiring minds have wondered what drove the two apart.

Now it appears the truth is slowly coming out and it can be summed up in two words: Another Woman.

According to several publications, Lange’s comment about the demise of his 14-year relationship with Twain being “a growing apart, that’s all” might only be a half-truth.

Sources close to the couple say the real truth is that Lange was having an affair with Marie-Anne Thiébaud, a longtime secretary and manager of the couple’s chateau in Switzerland.

“Mutt and Marie-Anne left their spouses for each other and are still in a relationship,” a source told PEOPLE magazine.

When confronted with the accusation Lange replied: “It’s absolutely not the reason [for the separation].”

He vehemently denied having an extra-martial relationship with Thiébaud saying, “I’m not, no, it’s not true.”

Meanwhile, pals of Twain say the singer is “devastated” by the news. According to PEOPLE the Canadian-born star never saw the divorce coming and is in “complete shock.”

As far as many fans are concerned the other woman in Bon Jovi star Richie Sambora and actress Heather Locklear’s marriage was Denise Richards.

It’s a claim Richards denies, though the reality TV star is now revealing that her relationship with Sambora only ended because the media accused her of breaking up his marriage.

For those of you who have long forgotten about this tawdry union Richards began dating the Bon Jovi guitarist after she split from her ex-husband Charlie Sheen in 2006. The timing of the hook up raised eyebrows because just weeks before Richards split from Sheen, Sambora ended his 11-year marriage to Locklear.

Richards is now going public saying that accusations that she was the “other woman” is preposterous. The “Wild Things” star added that media made it appear as though she was the one who caused Sambora to dump Locklear, which in turn put a major strain on her yearlong romance with the rocker.

According to Richards, “They (Sambora and Locklear) were getting divorced; he and I were friends and it happened. And she had moved on. She was already involved with someone else at the time. I regret the timing, perhaps, and I feel terrible anyone that was hurt and involved. But I did not split up their marriage.”

Do you believe Richards?
