A BOUNCING BUNDLE OF JOY
It doesn’t matter if she has a boy or a girl, as far as I’m concerned, the baby born to
women’s soccer legend Mia Hamm and her husband of three years, Los Angeles Dodgers baseball player Nomar Garciaparra, won’t only be bouncing, he or she will likely come out kicking and swinging.
Hamm was a member of the U.S. women’s national soccer team and officially retired after the 2004 Athens Olympics. She won two World Cups and two Olympic gold medals, and is credited with popularizing the sport of soccer among some 5.5 million girls under the age of 18.
THEY’RE STILL IN LOVE
If time would have allowed I’m sure “You’re Beautiful” singer James Blunt would have been pressed about his relationship with model Petra Nemcova on the “Today” show this morning. If pressed he would have likely (I’m assuming here) knocked down the rumors that he and Nemcova (who lost her last boyfriend in the Indian Ocean tsunami in late 2004) had gone their separate ways.
According to PEOPLE magazine, Nemcova and Blunt showed a united front when they hit L.A.’s Hyde Lounge together hand-in-hand last week. The model and her singer boyfriend singer met in December 2005 and started dating early this year.
Rumors circulated recently that they’d split – with some even speculating that Nemcova had hooked up with hip-hop mogul and fellow activist Russell Simmons. But Nemcova told PEOPLE, “We never got separated. There was some stuff going on in the press, but it didn’t come from a right source – obviously.”
A SELF-PROFESSED COMMITMENT-PHOBE
Did you happen to catch Cameron Diaz on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” today? I laughed when Diaz admitted that she doesn’t want the responsibility of a dog, let alone kid. When asked by DeGeneres if she planned to marry current boyfriend Justin Timberlake Diaz followed up by saying that will never marry because she’s commitment-phobic.
The couple has been together for more than four years, but has no plans to tie the knot. In September, DeGeneres asked Timberlake about engagement rumors. She jokingly said: “I need to know, should I get a bridesmaid dress now or not?” Without missing a beat Timberlake replied: “Know what? Go ahead and reserve one. The only thing is, you’ll have to stay the same size for the next 15 years.”
