Celebrity Updates: Reese’s New Gig and Dog Finally Unleashed

REESE’S NEW GIG

Just call her the Avon lady. It’s a new title actress Reese Witherspoon is embracing; though don’t expect her to be ringing your doorbell anytime soon. The Oscar-winning actress has been selected as the company’s first-ever global ambassador.

According to the cosmetics company, the 31-year-old mother of two will serve as honorary chairman of the Avon Foundation, which focuses on high-profile issues involving women, including breast cancer and domestic violence. In addition, Witherspoon will also serve as a spokeswoman for Avon Products Inc.’s beauty brands.
Witherspoon told reporters gathered at the announcement ceremony that accepting the new gig was a no brainer, especially since she has several family members and friends who are breast cancer survivors.

“Breast cancer awareness is a cause very close to my heart,” Witherspoon said.

What’s more, the good-looking Academy award-winning actress added, Avon has been a part of her life for decades.

“As long as I can remember, we’ve had Avon ladies in my family’s life,” she said. “I was even talking to my mother this morning and we were talking about who was our Avon representative when we were growing up and she was like, ‘Dolores, of course!'”

DOG FINALLY UNLEASHED

Duane “Dog” Chapman is finally a free man. A Mexican judge recently decided to close the criminal case against the bounty hunter and TV reality star (though prosecutors still have the right to appeal the judge’s ruling).

Last week a judge said the statute of limitations expired on the case, which Chapman was awaiting trial for. You’ll recall the long-haired TV star was arrested in September at his home in Hawaii on a Mexican warrant stemming from his 2003 capture of fugitive (and convicted rapist) Andrew Luster (the Max Factor cosmetics heir) in Puerto Vallarta. Since bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico, Chapman faced jail time for taking Luster into custody.

Chapman is the star of A&E’s “Dog the Bounty Hunter.” Upon hearing the judge’s ruling Chapman screamed the following to media representatives waiting outside of court: “The weight has been lifted off my chest. Viva la Mexico!”
