Celebs Look Ahead: Who’s “Dancing” Next and K-Fed’s New Gig

I give him until at least week two before he gets the boot. Then again, he could walk away with that tacky disco ball trophy and the title…

I’m talking about Sin City icon Wayne Newton. We know he can sing, but can he dance?

We’ll find out next month when the new season of “Dancing with the Stars” premieres on ABC.

According to sources close to the televised dance competition, Newton along with several other media darlings will be lacing up their dancing shoes to shimmy, shake, and slide for all of the nation to see beginning September 24th.

ABC has yet to announce the show’s complete roster, but according to network insiders, Carrie Ann Inaba and last season’s winner Apolo Ohno are slated to announce the next lineup on “Good Morning America” next week.

With all due respect to Mr. Newton (I have never seen him perform in person), he still tours with the USO and makes frequent appearances in his Las Vegas hometown. No doubt the 65-year-old entertainer is a legend (Vegas has a street named after him) and he did once perform for President Truman… so who knows… he could be the next John O’Hurley for all I know.

Here’s one name I don’t want to see busting a move on the next “Dancing with the Stars” – Kevin Federline. Unfortunately, if you are a fan of the CW’s “One Tree Hill” you won’t have a choice, but to see the former Mr. Britney Spears on your favorite show.

According to show producers, Fed-Ex will guest star in a series of shows during the upcoming season and will be playing a cocky rock singer. (So the character won’t be too much of a stretch for the wannabe rapper.)

The custody-battling father of two is reportedly scheduled to begin filming later this week.

Another surprise for viewers this season (besides seeing K-Fed mingling with the likes of Chad Michael Murray, Sophia Bush, Nathan Scott and crew) is the fact that the characters will age more than four years from last season.

The network has not announced when the new shows will begin airing, though the new season is scheduled to begin in midseason.
