Celebs’ New Gigs—-Anne’s an Ambassador and Suri’s a Polar Bear?

Frankly, I am surprised that it took so long for a cosmetics company to hire Anne Hathaway.

Even before she made a name for herself in “The Devil Wears Prada” I always thought she had one of the most beautiful faces in Hollywood. Her skin is flawless (at least it appears to be in the shots I’ve seen) and her smile is infectious. She just has a fresh look about her.

Now it appears execs at Lancome are giving the actress the recognition she deserves. Following in the footsteps of the company’s past famous faces, Kate Winslet and Clive Owen, the wide-eyed American has been chosen as the newest ambassador for the luxury cosmetics brand.

Lancome execs describe Hathaway as “a radiant young woman who perfectly embodies modern femininity.”

The actress’ new ad campaign will be unveiled in September when the company launches its newest scent.

SURI THE POLAR BEAR?

First the GAP wanted her, now it appears young Suri Cruise is being actively sought out to voice an animated polar bear. And not just any polar bear… we’re talking about Knut, the famous polar bear at the Berlin Zoo.

The popular bear is the subject of a new children’s book Knut: How One Little Polar Bear Captivated the World and was recently photographed by Annie Leibovitz for the cover of Vanity Fair.

Now Hollywood has come knocking. According to a German newspaper, an animated picture company is interested in turning Knut’s life into a movie and recently offered the Zoo Berlin $5 million for the rights to bear’s story.

That’s where the adorable offspring of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes comes in. Movie producers want 18-month-old Suri to be the English voice of Knut. Never mind that the tot doesn’t speak in complete sentences yet.

For those of you who are not familiar with the heartwarming story of Knut, the polar bear has been raised at the zoo since his mother rejected him at birth on December 3, 2006. So he’s about the same age as Suri. As for whether the famous spawn of TomKat is interested in the gig, movie producers say they haven’t heard from Suri’s agent yet.
