As many of you may already know, Lisa Pietsch is no longer the manager over the blogs portion of Families. She has changed to another website and will be managing blogs at that website from here forward. We will really miss Lisa here at Families–she has been the backbone to this community for a long time, and I have learned a lot from her. I have enjoyed working with her immensely, and I will miss that relationship that we have developed. I want to wish Lisa all the best at the new website, and also remind her to not be a stranger–I know I speak for all the bloggers here when I say that I hope she continues to visit and contribute to this website often.
The incoming editor and manager for the blogs is Heather Long, well-known for her many blogs here at Families. She has been a blogger with Families from the beginning, and her blogs alone regularly generate about 10% of the revenue that Families receives from the blogs. That is a huge percentage, and it comes from the fact that Heather is a dedicated writer (unlike me, Heather actually posts the maximum allowable blogs per month – 75 – while I’m lucky to get in 25) and a very talented one to boot. If there is one person who is qualified to take over the blogs section at Families, it would be her.
The Assistant Managing Editor will be Valerie Delp, who is an incredibly busy mother of five children (all under the age of seven) who she also homeschools–it’s amazing to me that she manages to keep up with just her own blog, let alone anything else. But she has agreed to take on this additional responsibility, and I am sure she is going to do a fantastic job of it. I have received several comments on my blogs from her, which have always been encouraging and supportive. I have really appreciated her through these last several months, and I’m very happy and proud for her that she received this promotion and recognition of her abilities.
As the Jobs blogger, I just wanted to take a moment and say how much I love working for Families–they have truly made my “job” easier. I say “job” because I don’t feel as if it is work to write for Families. This is the easiest and least stressful job I have ever had, and I hope to be here for a long time to come. Thanks to Lisa, Heather, Valerie, and all of the other wonderful bloggers and editors we have here at Families. You’re all fantastic.

PS I just received this reminder from Lisa, and I wanted to pass it on to everyone: The reserve list for bloggers here at Families was passed on in its entirety to Heather, so if you were on the reserve list when Lisa was the manager, you are on the reserve list now. Hope that helps someone! 🙂
