My previous blogs have illustrated that you don’t have to possess the crafting skills of Martha Stewart in order to spice up your Easter eggs. Rather, all you need is a little motivation, and an equally fab place to showcase those spectacularly decorated orbs.
Flimsy wicker baskets and cheap-o plastic buckets need not apply.
What you need are the following easy-to-make Easter egg holders:
Pretty Pots: Why place your elegant eggs in a traditional basket when you can display them in an elaborately decorated pot instead? All you need is a simple terra cotta pot, some paint and a few embellishments, such as stickers, glitter glue, buttons, gemstones, and sequins. Let your kids get in on the action by decorating the pot. You can further customize it by taping the top and bottom and spraying some chalkboard paint in the center. Once the paint dries completely, add a personalized Easter message with colored chalk. Finally, fill the pot with plastic grass, and then nest the eggs on top.
Bodacious Bags: If you are planning to host an Easter egg hunt, but don’t have enough baskets to go around, have your young guests decorate their own goodie bags to store their precious oval-shaped loot.
Materials:
Plain gift bags
Easter stickers
Craft foam
Easter-themed die cuts
Buttons
Glitter
Sequins
Glitter
Rick-rack
Ribbon
Plastic grass or raffia
Directions:
Decorate the bags with the embellishments.
Line the bottom of the bags with the plastic grass to help cushion the eggs.
Easter Basket Buddy
Once you have the containers made, consider adding a little buddy to keep the eggs company. This little lamb is perfect for the job:
Materials:
Empty egg carton
Glue
Cotton balls
Googly eyes
Construction paper
Scissors
Directions:
Cut an egg cup out of the empty carton.
Place the egg cup upside down on a flat surface and cover it with glue.
Apply cotton balls to the egg cup until it is completely covered.
Glue on the googly eyes.
Cut two ears out of the construction paper and glue them onto the cotton ball lamb.
Allow glue to dry completely before adding your little lamb to your basket, pot or bag.
