Charts and Graphs for a Home Business

I LOVE charts and graphs. If there is an article in a magazine that includes colorful bar graphs or pie charts, that is an article I will at least look over. It was always one of those things I liked about doing annual reports and grant reports and other such things in my old career incarnation. Now that I have a simple, little home-based business, I don’t have the same opportunities for using and utilizing charts and graphs that I used to—but I still think there is a place for them in a small home business!

Charts and graphs are easy enough to make with ordinary software programs and can really jazz up marketing and promotional materials and web sites. You may not know that you can make quite professional-looking charts and graphs using your excel or spreadsheet software program on your home or business computer. Pie, bar, and other sorts of graphs can be made and then imported onto a web site, into a letter, or into other marketing materials to further illustrate information about your business operations. By putting the data into a spreadsheet in a very simple way, you can then click on the “chart wizard” icon and it will take you through the step-by-step process of creating a working, attractive graph or chart.

People respond to visuals—whether pictures, images or colorful charts and graphs. It is a way to simplify information and share some hard data or facts in a fun way. Not to mention, it looks downright impressive and professional. So, if you want to show customer satisfaction or growth or some other detail or comparison in your home-based business, consider using charts and graphs to get the message across. It is an incredibly popular and customer or client-pleasing way to share information and show off your business operations!
