Do you dream in chocolate? Do chocolate chips, German chocolate cake, and red velvet cupcakes dance perform a sweet ballet in your head? If so, the word “diet” must scare you to death. Did I say, “death”? The first thing that comes to my mind is Death by Chocolate Cake. That is the kind of temptation that wrecks a diet. Just when you think victory is in your grasp you pass the candy aisle and see chocolate bars like neon signs saying, “Eat Me”. You try to resist but your craving demands satisfaction so you give in and eat a bag of Hershey Kisses on your way home from the store. Since there is no way to make up for such a blunder you decide to start your diet again next week.
Did you know that women who give in to their cravings in moderation are more successful in their weight loss goals? You are not a robot. You also need not deprive yourself of some pleasures or culinary delights. The only requirement is that you are wise. In fact, allowing a tempting treat before the cravings start may just stop them in their tracks. When we give into a craving we often go overboard and not come up for air until we gained another ten pounds. Having a treat will not wreck your diet. However, making up for lost time and having several treats in one sitting will wreck your diet.
So how do you have your diet and eat chocolate at the same time? Choose dark chocolate over other types of chocolate. Dark chocolate will provide you the rich taste you desire with less sugar. Some studies have even suggested that dark chocolate can have positive health benefits. The trick is to consume a moderate amount. Do not eat mindlessly sitting in front of the TV or computer or even talking on the phone. Enjoy your little piece of Heaven slowly and quietly. You will be surprised how quickly your craving will pass if you eat a small amount slowly. Another fun way to add chocolate into your diet is by adding melted chocolate to a bowl of strawberries. Melted chocolate will go further and with added fruit it will be more filling and satisfying. Not a bad treat for a woman on a diet, huh?
