In order to keep your camera safe and clean and protected from Mother Nature, you need to invest in a good camera bag. Camera bags come in many different shapes, sizes, colors and fabrics. You can choose one with tons of compartments and pockets, or a standard one with nothing more than a place for the camera.
After investing in a wonderful camera, getting the right camera bag should be an extremely important decision. The other area of concern or consideration, is how much camera equipment you have as well.
Many camera’s come with a camera bag or carrying case of some kind. However, they are usually cheap, might not hold all the necessary accessories or perhaps you just want something different. Here are the things you need to really look for.
Size. The size that you choose is of course dependent on the size of the camera you use, and the amount of equipment and accessories that need to be stored inside. Keep in mind the ability to accomodate manuals too. This way it is always close by in case you have a question.
Ease of Use. It is important to consider how easy it is to access the camera once inside the bag. If it has all sorts of zips and pulls and snaps, it might be difficult to get that quick shot because it took you so long to remove the camera.
Type. Do you need a waterproof bag? Is a soft sided bag okay for you? You will need to ask yourself these important questions to figure out what type of bag you might want.
Features. Be sure to look for the features that you need. A padded shoulder strap for carrying is the best, however some photographers prefer to carry a suitcase type bag. The features you look for are going to be dependent on your personal preferences.
Zipper. Having a zippered bag is usually the best alternative when looking for a bag. Snaps can come undone very easily causing the camera to come tumbling out unexpectedly, etc. It would be better to have a zippered bag, and the larger tooth varieties are better.
