In what may have been the most anticlimactic birth in Hollywood (at least by celebrity standards) singer Christina Aguilera and her husband Jordan Bratman welcomed a baby boy on Saturday at 10:05 p.m.
This is the couple’s first child so it is obviously a huge deal for them. However, if you believed many media outlets the 27-year-old former Mouseketeer had become a mom long before she pushed out the son she named Max Liron Bratman.
On Friday, roughly 36 hours before she actually gave birth, several entertainment sources published reports that Aguilera had given birth to a baby within minutes of fellow 20-something Hollywood tartlet Nicole Richie.
In the end the reports proved to be false and the facts surrounding the birth of Aguilera’s baby boy were revealed: According to the singer’s rep, Max arrived late Saturday night. He weighed 6 lbs. 2 oz. and measured 20.5 inches long.
Personally, I’m glad the baby bump watch is over for Aguilera and Richie (although, for paparazzi the baby watch has just begun). You’ll recall the “Save Me from Myself” singer kept mum about her pregnancy until two months before she was scheduled to give birth. She finally broke her silence when she posed naked in all her pregnant glory on the cover of November’s Marie Claire magazine. In the article, Aguilera addressed her silence on the matter, telling the magazine, “Because I hadn’t said anything, people thought I was trying to keep it this big, bad secret, and that’s not the case at all. I just wasn’t commenting. I’m not being like, ‘Hey, everybody, I’m pregnant!’ I’m not that girl.”
Still, Aguilera didn’t seem all that pleased when pal Paris Hilton made like the National Enquirer and announced the singer’s pregnancy at a Las Vegas nightclub back in September.
“Congratulations to the most beautiful pregnant woman in the world. You’re gorgeous,” Hilton yelled out to a stunned Aguilera and Bratman in the middle of the crowded club.
So much for secrets.
Long before Jennifer Lopez began her game of keeping mum on becoming a mommy there was Christina Aguilera. And now that she’s given birth all eyes are on her tight-lipped tummy talk successor.
