Christmas Card Craft

Every year my family makes Christmas Crafts. I love decorating the house with crafts we have made throughout the years. It makes Christmas more special and less material and commercial. One tradition is making Christmas cards. We love to explore new ways to make these fun and interesting. Here is a method that is not new but fun and worth repeating. Preschoolers will delight in the organized mess.

Shaving Cream Art

Supplies:

shaving cream

paint (tempra or even food coloring)

cookie sheets

paper (cardstock recommended)

paper towels

Now, I had one of those turkey roaster aluminum pans with a plastic cover. I used the plastic cover instead of cookie sheets. I love easy clean up! I had planned on just throwing it away when we were done. I also like to cover my dining room table with wax paper before any messy project.

Now, once you gathered your supplies, get out the shaving cream and squirt it in your tray. Spread it out like frosting a cake. You only need it about 1/2 inch to an inch thick. Then drizzle or add drops of paint in random order all over the shaving cream. Then use a craft stick or even your fingers to swirl it all around. Be careful not to get your kids go too insane or you will end up with a color pretty close to the color of play doh in all preschools….all mixed up brown.

Next, take your paper and press lightly on the shaving cream. Remove and dab with paper towels. Let dry. Then you can add glitter, stickers, or whatever embellishments you desire.

We made a bunch of Christmas cards for family and friends. Every year we do a Christmas Craft in my home. It is one of the fondest traditions behind eating Christmas Tree French Toast, we do this time of year!
