Christmas is a magical time for preschoolers. They love all the carols and cartoons about Frosty and Rudolph. Rudolph has always been a favorite Christmas character with my kids. Another love held by my children is getting their hands messy making Christmas crafts. What better combination than Rudolph and crafts? Knowing that the best crafts are simple, especially during the busy holiday season, I decided on a craft that did not require paint, scissors, or paper. Crazy, right?
Terracotta Pot Rudolph
Supplies:
- Terracotta pot. (Chose a small size. You can find a variety at craft stores to chose from.)
- (2) Brown pipe cleaners
- (2) Googly eyes
- Red Pom Pom (you can chose to use the red pom pom with sparkles or tinsel to make it more festive)
- Craft glue
Directions:
- Make sure the terracotta pot is clean. If you have to wash it then be sure it is completely dry before gluing on the materials.
- Cut off 1/4 of each of the brown pipe cleaners. Place the longer strip in the center of the shorter one at the top. Wrap the shorter one around leaving enough ends on either side to form into antlers.
- Carefully glue the bottom portion of the antler and place inside the pot on either side to make antlers.
- Glue the eyes on the front of the pot as you desire.
- Finally glue the red pom pom near the bottom of the pot to be the nose.
- You are finished! However, if you decide you want to make a female reindeer than draw eyelashes with a black marker and tie Christmas ribbon around the antlers. You can also make glasses out of pipe cleaners for your reindeer. Get creative and have fun! If you are giving as a gift then fill with candy, nuts, suckers, or other small objects like hand lotion or lip gloss.
