There are lots of ways to wrap Christmas gifts from the festive themed wrapping paper with a bow on top to the extraordinary. From gift bags and fancy gift boxes to creative ideas you discover yourself, you can use a different method for every gift you wrap, if you desire.
Some people like to mix and match different styles of wrapping paper, or mix in a few bags or special boxes. Some prefer to wrap gifts for each family member in all the same paper, so they know which stuff belongs to whom. Others like to mix it up but still use styles of wrapping paper that coordinate with each other instead of the mix and match thing. How do you like to do it?
One year, I bought pretty foil paper and wrapped each family member’s “special” gifts in it and used regular paper for the other gifts. Another time, I used one patterned paper for some packages, and a matching foil for the others. These were coordinated with the colors I was decorating the tree and the rest of my home with at the time.
These days, our decorating is rather eclectic, with ornaments and decorations the kids have made or given me as gifts, so I just wrap gifts in any wrapping paper that catches my eye. We have a colorful pile of presents under our very colorful Christmas tree, and it’s quite festive.
Money saving tip: Look through the rolls of wrapping paper when they are first put on display for the season or when displays are replenished. I find that there are some mixed in from the previous year, and these usually offer more square footage than the newer rolls at the same price, since the rolls seem to shrink each year. If you grab rolls that have 5-10 extra square feet each, it adds up. It’s like getting a roll free or two of paper.
