In case you haven’t checked the calendar lately, you now officially have twenty-five days left until Christmas. I know that you know it’s coming soon, but do you ever get so caught up in trying to get stuff done that the days just seem to slip by? I do. Then I find myself gasping, “Only twenty-five days left!” in shock that so many days have disappeared and I have so much left to do.
This is for everybody that didn’t realize the countdown had started. I know there are some of you out there. I know some people that haven’t even begun Christmas shopping yet, and I am personally nowhere near done. There are meals to plan, cards to send, gifts to buy, wrap, and some to ship, and by the time I get those stockings hung with care, I’m going to be wiped out. I hope Santa is nice to me… oops that reminds me, I’ve got cookies to bake soon too! It’s time to start stocking up on sugar, brown sugar, flour, vanilla, and all the rest. Where did I put those measuring spoons?
Do you know anybody that has everything perfectly under control and makes holidays look effortless? I have a friend like that. Of course, she is perfectly organized all year long, her home is immaculate at all times, her checkbook is balanced to the penny at all times, and she’s the epitome of efficiency. I laugh and tell her an immaculate home is the sign of a very dull woman.
Me? My life is much more exciting. Well, maybe exciting is not the right word. Hey, I try to be organized and I do end up getting everything done eventually! Still, no one would call my efforts “effortless.”
I’m going to get started earlier next year. I’m going to plan better and be more organized.
My husband just read that and asked, “Didn’t you say that last year?”
