Yes, it’s more than a little early, but I love Christmas music. When it comes to working out, sometimes the choices in music that you make can help you really rev up your performance and your enjoyment. While Christmas itself is still 8 weeks away, you might consider incorporating a few Christmas songs in your iPod mix or compilation CD.
Most forms of art, including music, can stimulate endorphins in the brain. It’s why music can be very uplifting, it can bring tears to our eyes or put a smile on our faces. Christmas music is often very uplifting and whether it’s the dulcet strains of Oh Come All Ye Faithful or the very happy and jolly Walking in a Winter Wonderland.
Christmas music is very particular to a time of year, but it brings to mind the wonderful scents of roasting turkey and baking pies. You think of white snowy mornings, warm fireplaces and the sweet scent of pine and the twinkling of lights. It’s a great feeling and one that few other forms of music can capture – the endorphins and the feelings can add some real lift and life to your workout.
So for my part, here are my favorite Christmas music selections to incorporate into my workout routines:
- Walking in a Winter Wonderland
- Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
- The Little Drummer Boy (Bing Crosby & David Bowie version)
- Anything by the Trans Siberian Orchaestra
- White Christmas
- Santa Claus is Coming to Town
- Oh Come All Ye Faithful
- Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
- Jingle Bells
What are some of your favorite Christmas tunes that can generate these feelings in you during your workout?
