Many people fell tired but the million of sufferers of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or CFS feel an entirely different type of tiredness; they feel exhaustion! Exhaustion to the point they cannot get out of bed or even function through an entire day with falling asleep or feeling drowsy all day.
So how does a person with CFS exercise when the simple task of getting out of bed totally exhausts their body?
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is not from the lack of sleep a person gets but from the weakness of the immune system. Many circumstances can cause CFS, food allergies, overstressed, unhealthy habits like smoking, and serious illnesses the body is fighting off.
The one thing doctors do agree with is stopping a fitness routine is one of the worst things a CFS sufferer can do. Giving into the tiredness of fatigue and the wanting to sleep 24 hours a day is the hardest thing to not do. The last thing on a CFS sufferers mind is exercise as many times the exercise makes the sufferer either become sick or sleep more.
Look at it as when you begin an exercise routine, the trainer always says to begin slowly since your body has not been active for a while. The same goes for CFS. What happens is when a person with CFS is having a good day or a good week, they feel amazing! There is no tiredness or fatigue. These are usually the times they begin to exercise again and since they overdo it, their body throws them into a Chronic Fatigue cycle.
From feeling great and energetic to exercising, a person emotional being also takes a hit of helplessness. Besides just the sleep, the brain begins to feel as if it was in a fog for many days to weeks and functioning becomes difficult.
If you sufferer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia, there are few steps to take when taking the next step to following an exercise program.
1)Take your time! – You may feel like your old self but unfortunately if you over do it, the rest of the week you will not be able to get up.
2)Listen to your body. – If your body begins to feel exhaustion, stop and end the workout for the day.
3)Once you begin to develop a tolerance to the amount of exercise, then workouts and times can increase.
Be patient with your body; no one knows why there are many sufferers of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome but keeping active is one of the best to combat the sleepies.
