Church Announces a Training Meeting

The church announced that a worldwide leadership training meeting is scheduled for February 9, 2008. The time will depend on your local area. The training meeting is for all members age eighteen and older. This is the first time that all members are invited to attend a leadership training meeting.

Worldwide leadership meetings are broadcasts that are used to reach leaders around the world. They address specific leadership needs and questions. I had the opportunity to attend two several years ago and I was impressed at how well the church used this format to teach principles and still convey the spirit at the same time.

Generally the worldwide leadership training meetings are only for the leaders of the ward. They may be targeted specifically to one or two organizations or to all of the auxiliaries. They are one way that the church is taking advantage of technology to reach all of the members around the world. Another way is the regional and stake conference broadcasts.

According to the schedule, the meeting will only be available to watch at your local ward building. The time will vary according to the area in which you live. There are several broadcast times listed, so it is important that you speak to your local leaders to learn the correct time to attend. Additionally the meeting is being broadcast simultaneously in many languages, so you may need to learn where to attend the meeting in the correct language.

Since this meeting is for adults only you should find a babysitter for your children. You may consider sharing a sitter with another family if you are having a difficult time finding a sitter. If you are a youth leader you may consider setting up a babysitting service for the meeting. This would help all members over the age of eighteen to attend the meeting.
