Grilling is a wonderful way to cook your favorites foods. With the opportunity to cook outdoors and enjoy the savory flavors and smells, grilling is one of America’s favorite pasttimes. However, along with the joy of grilling comes the necessity of cleaning the grill. No matter what the size of grill, you will need to keep it clean. In addition to helping your food taste better, it will also keep you safe and healthy.
One of the first steps in keeping a clean grill is to simply spray the grids before you turn the burners on. With this, foods will not stick, thus leaving behind messy debris. Instead, foods will cook nice and even. When finished grilling, simply use a clean, damp cloth to wipe off any excess.
If your barbecue grill does get dirty, be sure you use rubber gloves. Then remove the grease from the collector pan, which is located on the underside of the grill. Just make sure the coals are cool to avoid being burned. Then, the cooking and charcoal grids should be removed, which are located inside the grill’s bowl. Spray on regular oven cleaner, applying it direclty to the inside of the bowl, following the instructions and wiping the product off completely.
If the grates are also dirty, you can use oven cleaner on them as well. For this, place the grids on a piece of heavy plastic or cardboard to avoid getting the spray on your grass or deck. When done, rinse with water and wipe clean. When done, replace the grates, spraying them with vegetable cooking oil. Keep in mind that sometimes, grates can be caked on with old cooked food. In this case, you may need to use a wire brush or steel wool in addition to the oven cleaner.
Just remember that you do not want to use harsh cleansers on your grill as this can cause damage to your grill. Once you have sprayed on the vegetable spray, turn the burners on and allow the grill to run for about 15 to 20 minutes, which helps to season the grill. Once done, you can now use your grill for your next outdoor party.
