Cleaning in 30 Minutes or Less Series

I have decided to share some of my tips on how I keep my house clean, by spending just 30 minutes a day on it. Now of course, some of what I do may not work in your home. For instance, if you don’t have pets, that type of cleaning won’t apply. But hopefully what you learn from my schedule is that you really can keep a neat, orderly home and not spend a lot of time on it.

Each day of the week I have certain tasks and chores that I do. Because I like to keep my weekends free, I spend even less than 30 minutes cleaning on Saturday and Sunday.

Through the next few blogs, I will take you through each day of the week and share some of my tips. The 30 minutes I spend is in the morning. It doesn’t include some tasks that can’t be done until later, such as cleaning up after dinner or running the dishwasher.

Of course, this assumes that your house is in pretty decent order. If your home is completely off kilter and you can’t even walk on your floor, this won’t work. You will have to first declutter and organize everything.

I have a lot of hidden areas in my home that need work but my focus is on what others see when they walk in. And I can say that 90% of the time, I would feel completely fine about an unexpected visitor stopping over.

The reason I can say that is because of the daily routine I have adopted. But keep in mind that there are two key factors. The first is consistency. I never skip a day of my daily cleaning routine. I have to be pretty sick or out-of-town for that to happen. The second is maintenance. If I don’t always maintain the state of my home, my 30 minute routine will never work.

So in my next blog I will be starting with Monday and sharing some tips on what I do to clean in 30 minutes or less.
