Cleaning in 30 Minutes or Less: Tuesdays

In my last blog, I continued with my series on how I clean my house in 30 minutes or less each day. I mentioned that there were two types of cleaning I do Monday through Sunday, a quick wipe down in the kitchen and bathroom.

So on Tuesdays I do my usual kitchen and bathroom routine. Other than that, this is a fairly light day of housework. I have made Tuesdays light because not only do I have work to complete but I am out of the house for part of the day.

I sweep the stairs going down to our basement and wipe them down if they need it (if they are slightly dirty I use my favorite Clorox wipes but if they are really dirty I will use a floor cleaner). I then clean out the cat’s litter box and empty the wastebasket in the basement.

Since this is all I do on Tuesdays, it takes me about 10 minutes. I enjoy Tuesdays, knowing that I don’t have as much cleaning to do.

The idea is to map out your week and look at how you typically spend it. Are there certain days that you are busier than other ones? Those are the days where you should assign the lightest and quickest housework.

I also look at the days in which I am usually home for most of it and give myself more time-consuming tasks. When you take the time to really think about your week, you can plan your cleaning in a way that is doable.

And if you don’t like the idea of having the same cleaning schedule every single week, you could always spend your Sunday looking ahead to your week and what’s on your calendar. From there you could devise the best cleaning schedule. But the key is spreading it all out so that you aren’t spending more than 30 minutes a day cleaning.
