Housework seems to take forever, but if you can do some 60 second chores when you have time, things will go much smoother. There are so many times I’m put on hold when I call someone, or I’m waiting to leave or waiting for someone to show up or waiting for the oven timer to go off. By taking advantage of those tiny little minutes you can cut down on the hours you spend cleaning.
In sixty seconds you can:
• Clean a mirror
• Empty the bathroom trash
• Change the towels in the bathroom
• Wipe fingerprints off doorframes and light switches, one room at a time
• Dust the television screen
• Sort through that pile of mail on the counter
• Clean the crumbs out of the toaster
• Wipe the inside of the microwave
• Wipe off the front of an appliance
• Throw away five useless things from the junk drawer
• Put the DVD’s the kids left out back in their cases
• Purge old magazines
• Wipe down the front door
• Shake out a rug
• Fluff the couch pillows
• Change the battery in a clock
• Dust the heat vents and air return
• Throw cleaner of choice in toilet and swish
• Dust a shelf
• Take down cobwebs
• Put a new decoration on the front door
• Empty the silverware compartment of the dishwasher
• Water your plants
• Throw away old notices from the front of the fridge
• Pour vinegar in the coffee maker to clean it
• Grind up a lemon and some ice cubes in your garbage disposal to keep it fresh and clean
• Clean out the crisper bin in the refridgerator
• Wash the dogs bowl
• Clip dead leaves off your plants
The list is really endless. If we break everything down and it 60 seconds at a time it will feel like our homes almost clean themselves. Ok, not really, but at least it’s not hours and hours of work.
