This came across my desk today and I had to take a second look. I get the whole concept of wearing flattering clothing so that you look thinner. I think I live in black shorts so that my rear end looks just a tad smaller. But this takes that concept to a whole new level.
AbsAthletic has just launched a whole new line of FIRE clothing. What exactly does FIRE stand for you ask? That would be Far Infra Red Energy. It claims that exercising in FIRE clothing will boost your metabolism and you will burn more calories.
How It Works
Basically, there are visible and invisible rays to sunlight. The invisible rays will here on out be referred to as FIRE. FIRE can deeply penetrate the skin generating heat by causing the tissues to rapidly vibrate, resonating with one another. When these rays come in contact with proteins, fat, and water molecules–the stuff that‘s floating around our systems all the time, they cause a reaction which elevates tissue temperatures and dilates the blood vessels. The result, improves circulation and metabolism.
The company touts numerous health benefits to wearing their FIRE products and it is endorsed by several cardio-thoracic surgeons. The clothing is available in pants and shirts for men and women.
Yeah–But Does It Really Work?
I don’t own any of this clothing, but it would work for me and I’ll tell you how I know. If I bought clothing like this which undoubtedly will not be cheap, I would feel so guilty for spending the money that I’d have to use the clothing to work out. This would drastically increase my work out time and the increased working out would ensure that I lost weight. However, this is actually backed by some pretty good evidence that you may lose more weight wearing FIRE clothing while exercising, than you would exercising in just plain old shorts and a t-shirt.
Studies show that using a tannying bed equipped with far infrared lights will help you burn an additional 600 calories than you would otherwise. Furthermore, the super gurus at NASA have confirmed that using infrared heat can give astronauts a good cardiovascular workout–without actually working out.
The clothing is not quite available yet and the patent is pending but if you want to be the first on your block to own some FIRE clothing, you can check it out here: AbsAthletic
