Collecting For Christmas Layouts

Tomorrow is the first day of December, and we all know how fast that month flies by. The countdown to Christmas is officially underway and the chaos will likely continue into the New Year. Consequently, now is the time to start stocking up on items you plan to incorporate into your holiday-themed scrapbooks.

I’m not suggesting you leave home right now to purchase Christmas-themed stickers, die cuts and stamps. In fact, you might want to hold off on buying bulk purchases of seasonal items if you know your local scrapbook supply shop will put them on clearance in early January. Rather, I am recommending that you set aside pretty Christmas cards and newsletters from family and friends, so you can design layouts that include the holiday-inspired photos and greetings.

In addition, consider adding a few of the touching quotes or phrases featured on the cards to embellish your scrapbook layouts. You could use the words as a page border or photo frame, or simply place them near an appropriate image.

If you don’t get a ton of cards in the mail, use a few of these popular seasonal sayings in your scrapbook page designs:

“Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.”–Norman Vincent Peale

“Perhaps the best Yuletide decoration is being wreathed in smiles.”–Unknown

“The joy of brightening a child’s heart creates the magic of Christmas.”–W. C. Jones

“The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.”–Burton Hillis

“Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time.”–Laura Ingalls Wilder

“For somehow, not only at Christmas, but all the long year through, the joy that you give to others is the joy that comes back to you.”–John Greenleaf Whittier
