Chalks are awesome, they are a great tool to use when looking for a soft, subtle look and they can be used in a variety of ways on your scrapbooking layouts. Chalks are very easy to use and usually mistakes can be fixed very easily.
Here I would like to show you how great chalk can be to color in your stamped images or use in other ways on your scrapbooking layouts.
There are several different ways that you can purchase your chalk, however I prefer to use the kind that come the way the picture shows. The reason for this is that they are easier to use and not as messy as stick chalk can be.
The first thing you need to do is gather up some tools. There are a lot of different ways for chalk application, oddly my favorite is quite easy to find – a cotton swab.
You can also use sponges, cotton balls, your finger, daubers and even eye shadow applicators. Each produces a slightly different look. For the purposes of this article, I chose my traditional cotton swab. They are very easy to work with and each one can be used for two different colors.
You simply take the cotton swab and rub it across the desired color. Then, using gentle strokes, you can apply it to the image in the area that you want the color.
You can use a new cotton swab to gently blend if you have too much color in one area. The other really cool part of using chalks is the fact that you can use a craft eraser to erase your mistakes. It is just so easy to get the look you want using chalks with your stamped images.
