Coming Soon to a Big Screen Near You… Maybe

The man who is being hailed as a “genius” for his work crafting the summer blockbuster “Wanted” (starring Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy) is not resting on his laurels.

“Wanted” brought him box office glory and now Mark Millar wants to use his success to bring a boyhood dream to fruition. According to Millar, he is planning to pitch his version of the “Superman” franchise to Warner Bros.

The husband and father says it has been his life long dream to make a Superman movie. In a recent interview with British reporters Millar revealed that he always wanted to reinvent Superman for the 21st century.

“I’ve been planning this my entire life,” Millar told the Daily Mail. “ I’ve got my director and producer set up, and it’ll be 2011. This is how far ahead you have to think. Fingers crossed it could work out, that would be my lifetime’s dream.”

Earlier this year Bryan Singer who directed Brandon Routh in “Superman Returns” said he was developing a sequel to the film in which fans would see “Superman as more of an angry god.”

It’s not clear how Singer’s sequel will affect Millar’s proposal.

However, what is now becoming increasingly clear is that Millar’s muse, Jolie, is a step closer to starring in a French movie.

The actress, who is currently nesting with her partner Brad Pitt and their six young children (including newborn twins) in a sprawling estate in the South of France, says she has been studying the native language for years, though she claims she has not yet mastered it.

“When I can really speak it, then maybe I’ll audition for a French film in a few years,” Jolie revealed in the new issue of the German magazine Focus. “I truly am interested – more and more fantastic films are coming out of Europe and other cultures.”

Contrary to popular belief, Jolie says she has not turned down a single offer by a European director. The truth, according to the actress, is that she has never been asked to star in a European film.
