Compatibility

Do you ever listen to those commercials on the radio and television about dating services that promise to find the mate that is compatible with you through tests and questions? They promise to match you up with someone who is just what you are looking for.

While some of these services are far from what they claim, they do have the compatibility aspect right. You and your mate should be compatible.

Being compatible does not mean that you must share all of the same likes and dislikes with no differences. In fact it does help if the two of you balance one another by one carrying more of a stronger physical and playful characteristic and the other a mental and thinking characteristic.

When compatibility comes in handy is with serious issues such as morals, ethics, communication, direction in life, and values. These things are the basis of a relationship. Compatibility deals with how much you like and enjoy each other. It is how much you approve and like the things that each other does. It is your common goals for the future.

While compatibility may seem fairly simple and clear cut, it often is not. Many believe if you were once compatible that you will always be compatible. However this is not true. After marriage, some things change. Many people change their minds and opinions about children. New job adventures may affect the direction that you want to go in life.

Remember that compatibility can be negotiable and flexible. Just because you or your mate have ideas during one point in your life does not mean that you are committed to those ideas for the rest of your lives. Life’s bumps and twists along the way may take you into a direction that you never imagines or expected. In some cases you simply have to jump on board and accompany your spouse for the ride.
