Most of the time, I try to refrain from complaining about things. This is not always easy to do, as I come from a long line of italian complainers on my father’s side. However, there are times when complaining, or the nice opposite to that, complimenting, can really pay off.
How does this work?
Well, let’s say that you purchased a box of crackers. What did you think of them? Were they yummy, horrible or somewhere in between? Did you feel as if you got a good value for your money? What would you do to improve the crackers? Would you purchase them again? Why or why not?
Take your thoughts and write them down in a letter to the company that produced the crackers. You’ll generally find a contact address or toll-free telephone number on the product packaging, or even on the Internet though a web search. Companies love it when they get feedback, good or bad. They want to have the information that helps them improve their product, or keep customer loyalty. And they will reward you for your comments, either by coupons, refunds (if you disliked the product) or even free products. That isn’t bad for the cost of a stamp or in the case of an online form or toll-free call, the cost of nothing.
Some of the companies that would like to hear from you include Nabisco, Pepperidge Farm, Huggies, Proctor & Gamble, Kellogg’s, and Kraft. But these are only a few of the many companies to which you can provide feedback.
For easy complaining, you can check out planet feedback at http://www.planetfeedback.com/ You can fill out online forms and send your comments to many different companies. And, even if they don’t have your particular company in their database, the website still coaches you through writing a complaint or complement letter.
