I must admit I am an exercise nut. I love to exercise and I do it almost everyday. So many people wonder why I get up and work out every morning. I am going to confess my deepest, darkest secret to all of you here on just what motivates me to continue these almost daily workouts.
Many people work out because they want to keep their bodies healthy. I will admit, that is partially why I do it. I do want my body to be healthy, but that isn’t the main reason, the reason that drives me to exercise almost daily.
Many people work out to tone their body and to lose weight. I admit, I like that my body is toned and pretty fit. I like the way my body looks after having two babies. I credit my exercising for that. Could it be more toned? Sure, but I am pretty happy with the way it looks. Toning up and losing weight is a plus to exercising, but it isn’t what drives me to continue working out.
So, if it isn’t keeping my body healthy and toned, why do I work out so often? I have a deep, dark secret about what motivates me. I love to eat. When I say this, I don’t mean I love to eat apples or plums for a snack. I don’t love to eat my vegetables at every meal. I know that I should be doing this, but I don’t love to. Don’t get me wrong, we eat pretty healthy most of the time, whole grains, fruits and vegetables, sensible snacks, and low-fat foods. However, I don’t love doing it. What do I love? I love fried foods, appetizers that aren’t good for you, chips and dip and cookies. Pretty much anything that isn’t good for you, I love to eat it.
So, there you have it. If I didn’t exercise on a regular basis, I would balloon up to what would most likely be a large size. Instead, I often eat what I love and then I make sure to really exercise the next day. Probably not the best plan in the world, but it keeps me in a size two to a size four, so something must be working.
Now you know my deepest, darkest food secret. I love to eat, if I could call it a hobby, I would. Because I love to eat so much, I have learned to love my exercising, and I do love working out. I love that it is helping to keep me healthy and I love that it helps me stay toned. Most of all, I love that it allows me to eat what I want and not gain weight.
That is my main reason for exercising; whether or not it is the best reason to do so, it is what drives me.
What drives you to exercise?
