Continuing Post Partum Exercise

Now that I am almost five months post partum (it is crazy how quickly time passes), I am realizing that my post partum journey is hardly over. As this stage of my life progresses and evolves, so must my post partum workout routine. It was at this point after my son’s birth that I finally picked up and stuck with a hard core exercise regiment. Gaging my progress, successful or otherwise, has been a particular challenge for me. In a lot of ways I tend to be extremely hard on myself (perhaps this is the source of my motivation). The goals I set before my daughter was born may have been a bit too extreme. While I am certainly at the point, and have been for a while, where my pre pregnancy (and pre pre pregnancy, aside from a few pairs of jeans) clothes fit well again, I am have not reached my weight loss goals in the least. I certainly clock a lot of time with my workouts weekly but it seems that I have plateaued. I have been committed to doing a fifty minute workout Monday through Friday alternating between an intense cardio workout and an even more intense strength training workout. After three months of this same regiment, my body needs something different in order to continue to change (which I translate to mean dropping pounds). Starting this week my workout routine is going to change temporarily to give my body a bit of a shock. Instead of doing a fifty minute workout five times a week, for the next two weeks I am going to do a thirty minute workout every day. I am hoping that this will be enough of a change that my body will start to drop the last ten pounds of pregnancy weight. After the two week period, I plan on returning to my original workout routine. I am determined to reach my post partum weight loss goal!
