Cool Find: A Kid’s Guide to Drawing America

State history is required in most states. I must admit I am not always up on teaching state history while in the middle of teaching algebra, biology, preschool, American History, Ancient History, Latin, and all other subjects to my children. I teach history chronologically and so far we have not hit the history of my state. After giving this great thought, I realized it is important to take out time to briefly teach the history of my state. After all, it is where we live and one should know about the place they dwell. It is only logical. To help me in that quest, I have enlisted A Kid’s Guide to Drawing America. I found this lovely book on Timberdoodle and decided this would be the perfect way to teach state history. My children love to draw and create. Another reason I decided to purchase is that now you can get the state books for only $4.99. Why is that significant? The book normally retails for $25.25. Can you believe the savings? Hop over to Timberdoodle now to get your copy before the price goes back up. I have no idea when that will happen. My post is not sponsored by Timberdoodle and I was not nor will I be compensated for this. I just had to share this amazing deal with my readers.

State Books Include:

Illustrated list of drawing terms

State face list

Information about a painter whose work celebrates the natural beauty of the featured state or territory

Red highlighting of each new step in drawing

Dynamic photographs of the state’s sights and symbols to complement the step-by-step drawings

Web sites for further information

The book is intended for children in fourth grade and up. However, I am going to adjust it a bit to use with my first grader as well. So this year we will all study our state history together. Finally.
