When I saw this product, I thought it was kind of cool for homes or apartments without enough windows. I had a small one-bedroom house years ago, that had few windows and always felt too dark. I think something like this would have been perfect, because no matter how many lamps I turned on, it still felt somewhat depressing when I spent a lot of time inside.
The product is called Reveal Lights and it looks like a small can-light. It contains a small projector that emits an image of a window frame with trees waving in the wind. It may also be made available with other imagery, as an ocean view was also mentioned. Check it out at Engadget.com.
Some of the comments below the listing don’t sound very positive. Apparently, some people don’t think it’s a very good idea, although a few did like it. While it’s not exactly the latest, greatest innovation, I do think it would add a nice touch to a dark, drab space.
If you have ever lived –or do live- in a small, dark home or apartment it might make your space feel more cheerful. It’s an interesting concept, and one that I would guess was created out of need. Many such products are invented because people want something like this for personal use and they assume others in similar situations will also have an interest in it.
Reveal Lights would also work in a dorm room or in place of a typical night light. It could make a good gift for someone moving into an apartment. What do you think, is it cool or is it lame or somewhere in between? Would you buy this product? Reveal Lights have not been priced yet, but if affordable, I’m betting they get some decent sales.
