I’ve had a couple of questions over the last few weeks about freebie programming out there that focuses on health, fitness and exercise. I’ve programmed my TIVO to record a few of these in order to give you a more accurate review in the coming weeks. But for your own personal use, here is a listing of what is available at least to my knowledge. You can check it out for yourself to see if the programming fits the bill for your at home fitness program.
Inhale is a program that involves yoga and deep stretching in order to get your body flexible. The airing in the A.M. gives your day an energy boost and gets you off on the right foot. The program airs weekdays on the Oxygen network at 6 a.m.
Denise Austin’s Daily Workout is available weekdays on the Lifetime network from 7:30 to 8 a.m. The show is designed to work on head-to-toe sculpting. There are different cardio routines available every day and the constant changes to the workout helps to avoid viewer monotony.
Classical Stretch airs on PBS so you’ll have to check with your local listings if this show interests you. It’s a good program to help you unwind and relax. It involves tai chi, yoga, ballet moves and Pilates. You will get a really good workout of stretching and I like this program for the end of the day after the kiddos are in bed when I want to really decompress from the day.
If you have FitTV and I’m not sure I do – there’s a great program there call All Star Workouts that airs every Saturday evening at around 9 p.m. This program is designed to rev your engines and get you up and moving. From boot camp routines to hip hop dance, you will burn calories on a large scale. You may need some equipment for this program such as a step or weights.
If you have access to FitTV – check it out and let us know what you think. I’d record an episode or two beforehand so you can review it to find out what equipment you’ll need.
