I wonder how many Mother’s Day, anniversary or birthday presents husbands have bought for their wives end up tucked away in the back of a cupboard, never to see the light of day or on their way back to the shop?
Could you trust your husband to buy you an item or clothing, a handbag, a piece of jewelry, a CD or book you would like? Mick constantly astounds friends and acquaintances of ours by being able to buy clothes for me that not only fit but look nice, that I feel comfortable wearing as they are colors and styles I like. To me it doesn’t seem that hard. He knows my taste and exactly what I like.
This week he went one better. While I was seeing the physiotherapist about my troublesome back, he went to the library taking back the mass of books I had out over the last couple of weeks. As I wasn’t up to standing and walking, I asked him to pick some books he thought I would like. I suppose I could have given him a list of authors I like to read, but I didn’t.
Using both his card and mine, he came back later with a bag full of books. It was like looking through a treasure chest to see what he had chosen.
Out of the 15 books he had chosen, I had read 4, which shows how well he knows my taste. When it came to the Nicholas Sparks book he figured it was gamble that I might have read it since I have read most of his, but figured it was worth a try. Incidentally if you haven’t read The Choice and like good love story, this one is sure to get you in.
Out of the other 11, there are several by authors I have read before but not those particular books. Others looked decidedly interesting by authors I have not tried before. One I started last night and it has me captivated already. Of the 15 there are perhaps only a couple I may not read. So yes, as an experiment it worked wonderfully and he definitely could be trusted to know what I like because he knows me.
