With 2007 only a few days away, it’s time to get ready to obtain those goals you made for yourself.
If you decided to drink more water in the New Year, you’ll want to prepare your house by eliminating some of the sugary drinks that may have kept you from this goal in the past. Sure, sugary drinks and sodas may taste good, but did you know that caffeine can actually stimulate your appetite? For now, while you’re trying to make and stick to your goal, replace those sugary drinks with sugar-free options. Even better, invest in some lemons, limes and mint leaves—they’re delicious in a cup of cold water.
Have you decided to move more in 2007? How will you do that? If you’re planning on doing more walking, a new set of walking/running shoes may be needed. Do you have comfortable clothing to work out in? If you don’t have the money for home workout equipment, don’t worry about it. Canned fruits and vegetables make great arm weights. And you can always pick up a workout video at the store rather than investing in a gym membership or treadmill. Whatever your goal, there are ways to achieve that goal, no matter what your budget is.
If your goal is to eat better, you’ve absolutely got to set yourself up to succeed. Yes, that means eliminating the chips, chocolate, and those other obviously “bad” for you treats from your home. Otherwise, you’re simply setting yourself up to fail. If your family isn’t joining you in your efforts (though I do recommend making the new way of eating a family affair—good health is important for everyone) then at least consider keeping your own food in a separate area so you’re not pelted with temptation throughout the day.
With a little preparation, you’re already one step closer to your goals for 2007. You can do it!
