Countdown to Mother’s Day

Okay, ladies and gentlemen – we have just seven days to go until Mother’s Day and for the husbands out there who aren’t sure what to do for their wives – I have a few ideas. My husband likes it when I send him links or ideas in the few weeks leading up to Mother’s Day. I try to give him more than a few ideas so that he has a selection to choose from.

It’s been his long-standing belief (or at least he loves to tell this story) that if he wants to buy me jewelry – he goes to the best resource he knows – his mother. So with Mother’s Day approaching, the best source for understanding what to give other mothers whether its their own mother, their wife or their mother-in-law – it’s always nice to give the guys a hand

Here are a few ideas that I like to get or give for Mother’s Day:

  • Photo Mug
  • Photo Mouse Pad
  • Photo Flip Book
  • Hand Decorated Picture Frame
  • Gift Certificates for Manicures, Pedicures or Facial
  • Gift Certificate for 60 Minutes of Full Body Massage
  • Gift Certificates for House Cleaning, Chores, Errands and Quiet Time (You can make these up yourself)
  • Home Cooked Meals for a Week
  • A Day of Indulgence Beginning with Breakfast in Bed
  • Television Seasons on DVD (Gilmore Girls is a great one for this as it focuses on the relationships between three generations of family and a quirky town)
  • Fun Purse and Matching Shoes – Something Offbeat

The best gifts are the ones that we wouldn’t normally do for ourselves. For most moms, they spend so much time looking after their families that splurging on themselves is the last thing they think to do. Often, a day of beauty or pampering at a spa is one of the best gifts we can give some moms. Others prefer the simpler gifts – mugs decorated with photos of cherished children and other family members are great.

So whether you go for the simple or the complex; it is truly the meaning of the gift that ultimately matters – because it is the feeling of being appreciated that matters most. The gift is in the giving, the remembering and the appreciating.
