With all that you have to do to get ready for Christmas or other special days, you may find yourself missing your spouse. Even though the two of you pass each other now and again, you may not have had much time lately to simply enjoy each other’s company.
There is much to do on an everyday basis, with work, home, bills to pay, meals, and if you have kids, the list may seem to go on forever. Add to that your long list of holiday preparations, and it may look like you’ll never have a chance to spend a few moments loving your spouse.
We have to make time for each other, even when it seems nearly impossible to do. Where will you find the extra time?
Let Something Go
Now, I know many people will bristle at this suggestion, but certainly there is something you can let go to make time for your spouse. Maybe, you can use paper plates and have a sandwich to cut an extra hour or two from your day, instead of making a full dinner and then having to clean up afterwards. Maybe you can skip that extra trip to the store today to pick up the items you forgot, and instead pencil in the shopping trip for another time when you’ll be out anyway. Just make a list while the items are still fresh in your mind and attend to those things later.
Change Your Routine Temporarily
Get up just a bit earlier in the morning or stay up just a bit later at night to squeeze in an extra 20-30 minutes per day. Most of us hate to give up our rest, especially since many of us don’t feel as if we get enough rest to begin with, but reconnecting with your spouse may prove more refreshing than a few extra minutes of sleep.
Do Stuff Together
Tackle some of those tasks as a team so you can get things done more quickly and have a little extra time. You’ll also have time to chat while doing chores and things together. If you both need to run errands, go together and keep each other company between stops.
