It’s a fact of life that most kids hate cleaning their rooms. However, we know that the task is easier if there is a place for everything and everything gets put back into place when not in use. We can help make this process easier and more fun for children with this cute project.
Sit down with your child and begin sorting through favorite photos. Have your child pick out several that include him or include the family pet or those taken in your child’s room. For photos that are special, or those you’d like to keep, make copies if you don’t already have doubles. If you have a digital camera, that’s even better. You can take specific photos to use for this idea and print them right off.
Have your child help you use these photos to label items in his or her room. A picture of your child holding an open umbrella is a great way to label the hook for her umbrella. Apply the photo just above the hook, or add ribbon to the top corners of the photo, and hang it from the hook.
Get really creative when taking pictures and make it fun. Let your child have a turn taking pictures too. A photo of your child playing with blocks can be attached to the storage bin that holds blocks. A picture of Barbie’s posed during play will make a cute label for the Barbie storage bin.
You can also use this idea for other areas in the home as well. You can label pet items with a photo of your pet, or pose for a photo and put your own picture on “Mommy’s stuff” that little hands should not touch. You can even make cute, simple frames for these photos and add magnets or adhesive to the back of them.
The important thing is to have fun!
